Through collaboration with our partner JanusID, Zynyo now allows advanced digital signing with proof of identity, such as passport, ID card or driver's license.
The mobile app required for this is called CheckedID and is available for free in the Apple and Android stores. ID verification is done in a very secure and privacy-friendly way. Only the personal data needed for advanced signing is made available to Zynyo.
How does CheckedID work?
The signatory receives an invitation to sign with CheckedID. In the third and last step of the signing process the signer needs to scan a QR code. If the CheckedID app is already on the smartphone, the signing process is completed by entering the personal pincode. If the signatory does not have a CheckedID app on his or her smartphone yet, he or she can go to the App stores via the available links to install it.
After installing and opening the app, the optical verification starts. This provides a high degree of certainty to establish the authenticity of an ID card. Most smartphones also have an NFC function that can read the chip in the ID card. This offers maximum security. Next, the passport photo of the ID card is compared biometrically with the selfie that was taken of the holder. When taking the selfie, so-called 'liveness detection' takes place to ensure that the selfie is taken from a living person. This ensures that the ID card and the holder belong together.
After all data is collected, verification is initiated. These verifications include determining the authenticity of the ID proof used, and verifying the holder of the ID proof.
